When Wuling said that they will be locally assembling (CKD) an electric vehicle (EV), we weren’t expecting a whole new model. Known as the Wuling EV, the futuristic EV made its official debut in Indonesia and will become the official vehicle of the G20 summit that will take place in Bali later this year.
Back in March, when Wuling announced its intention to locally assemble EVs based on the GSEV small car platform, we were expecting one of Wuling’s very popular tiny EVs like the Wuling Mini EV, Wuling E100 or the Wuling E300 that will be set for a local launch.
However, the EV that the company will be locally assembling is a whole new model that Wuling claims was designed with the international market in mind. Yes, Wuling has already hinted its intention to export the Wuling EV to other countries.
The Wuling EV looks like a cross between a Hyundai Staria with a Wuling E100 front end shape and a Wuling Mini EV rear end. The front end features an extended horizontal LED DRL, the design continues to flow into two chrome lines that stretches all the way into the side mirrors.

Thanks to the LED DRL, the Wuling EV has a futuristic and modern look. The car also comes with aero-craft cabin windows that further elevate the futuristic theme.
For now, Wuling has not revealed any information about the EV or the interior. This is just a first look for those who are curious about the EV and a teaser of sorts leading up to its official launch later this year.
However, based on the wiper layout, we suspect the unit on display is a right-hand-drive version.
The car is still in its development phase but Wuling officials have hinted that the EV will have at least 200 to 300 km worth of range and will work like a portable charger like a laptop.
As mentioned, the Wuling EV will be the official vehicle for the G20 summit that will take place in Bali in November. The reason the EV was chosen to be the official vehicle for the summit was to show Indonesia’s commitment to its carbon-neutral goals.
To be clear, the models on display are not assembled in Indonesia yet, local assembly will only start later down the road.
