Distance Education In Europe A Coordination Analysis

Distance Education

Today I received another message asking about the possibility of getting a remote certificate from Slovakia to Pakistan. We have received many similar questions recently, so we decided to publish an article analyzing the situation.

High school

There is no common secondary education in Europe, which means distance learning and a degree in itself.

But there is a form of distance learning, where you can take an exam and get a certificate with the results, based on which you can get admission to universities. It is something like Pakistan USO.

For example, in the United States, there is a well-known IB or Pearson exam for admission to American and British universities: you can prepare it remotely, take the test online and get a certificate. There are many such tests.

The problem is that these degrees if we talk about public universities in Europe, are additional to the degree recognized by the state and do not replace it. Only some private universities can accept documents with and without this certificate.

That is, if you intend to study at private universities, distance learning with a certificate is suitable for you. If you want to study at a government university, you can’t without a certificate.

Private secondary education

Education in schools is generally applied (music, cooking, sewing, make-up, massage), so it does not include distance learning, as students should get not only theory but also more practice.

Higher education

There are many universities where you can study remotely (absent), but there are some nuances.

First, distance education almost always costs money. In other words, if you want to learn for free or for a small fee, distance learning is not for you.

For example, the Open University of Great Britain is classified as a low-cost university, but this is the case: the study costs 8000 euros per year, in addition to the student in a session once a year. Attendance is a must. A total is an impressive number.

NOTE: If you also want to study in Europe, click on Stars Academy LMS.

Also, if we consider that a person often studies European immigration, a part-time student misses many opportunities: a full-time student gets a residence permit and, after graduation, a job. A year to search and an easy procedure for employment. . or the opening of an individual entrepreneur. While studying, students have the right to work 20 hours a week, and years of study at university can count towards citizenship or permanent residency. But the point is that students get the experience of living in the country, adapting and mingling with the culture during their studies, which cannot be said for distance learners.

Who is distance learning for?

Those who need it to advance in their careers.

  • There are cases where even an MBA from a questionable European university has more benefits than an MBA from a university in your country, and these programs will cost the same.
  • Those already in the country do not need to obtain a residence permit. If a person has already moved to a European country but lives in an area where there is no university or access to education, then distance learning is a great opportunity.

For those with enough courses: Universities usually offer courses with limited objectives (courses in advertising, art, history, etc.) and applied (assistant notary, real estate agent, etc.). In other words, one can study remotely for six months or a year and earn a university degree.

Such courses are also organized by the most reputed universities – Harvard, Stanford, and others. At the same time, studying in such online courses is much cheaper than in a full-time department.

But we must not forget that you have a great alternative to distance learning, which is to study in specialization at a public university that does not require attendance. You can sign up for the free program and just come to take the test.

Also, distance education can be applied to a very limited list of specialties: for example, you cannot study medicine remotely. But, in addition, in many countries, it is forbidden to study psychology, engineering, pedagogy, and various specialties.

Now, during the lockdown, there is a heated debate about whether full-time education as a trend is going away. In our opinion, this is inevitable, because no form of online education can replace the direct transfer of knowledge from person to person, student life, shared interests, and indescribable energy of ancient universities.
