Decentralized Applications (DAPPs) and WEB3 wallets: What are they, and how can I use them?

by Team Techvilly

A program that employs decentralized protocols for some or all of its operations is referred to as a Dapp (decentralized application). To qualify as a dapp, significant portions of the back-end program logic must run on a decentralized peer-to-peer network (the blockchain). Dapps are driven by smart contracts, a software that executes the essential logic of the dapp and is stored and run on a (permissionless) blockchain network.

In some difficult situations, developers host the front end and other files using decentralized storage systems like IPFS, which reduce counterparty risks and increase resilience against outside meddling.

Ethereum WEB3 wallets and Dapp browsers

A self-custody wallet that allows access to the third generation of the web and the use of dapps is known as a WEB3 wallet. Actually, the Web3 wallet development is only a browser that has been added to the standard self-custody wallet to enable the use of dapps.

The majority of these WEB3 wallets have a part where you can use a dapp browser to access dapps. It will show how the applications are grouped, as I did above.

If you have trouble understanding the terms “self-custody wallet,” “hardware wallet,” or “smart contract wallet,” please check my blog post that goes into more detail on the various types of wallets.

Before choosing a wallet service, do your own research and consider its reliability. Additionally, familiarize yourself with the recommended procedures for using cryptocurrencies and their backup.

An overview of the WEB3 ecosystem’s self-custody wallet service providers.

A dapp (like one of known provenance), as shown in the image above, can be accessible by various WEB3 wallet implementations. The simplest way to access a dapp if you already have a mobile WEB3 wallet is through Wallet Connect.

By scanning a QR code, desktop dapps and mobile wallets can be linked together utilizing the open protocols WalletConnect and Web3 Connect. This implies that you don’t need any additional extensions or programs to access a dapp on your desktop computer using, for instance, your Trust wallet.

Enjoy exploring the decentralized web, and when you decide to raise your investments, utilize a hardware wallet.
