It’s no secret that hair loss can be devastating, both to the way you look and to your emotional well-being. If you’ve ever watched someone struggle with hair loss, you know how it can affect every aspect of their life. While it’s hard to tell exactly how many Americans are dealing with this issue, it’s thought that as many as 80% of men over the age of 50 suffer from some degree of balding, and 40% of women over the age of 60 experience some form of hair thinning or loss.
What are you thinking about when you get your haircut?
When I get my haircut, I’m always thinking about how my hair looks on the top of my head. What if it’s thinning out at the crown? What if it’s receding in the temple area? These are all reasons why someone may consider getting a hair transplant. If you’re considering this type of surgery, there are some things you should know first. A hair transplant is when doctors take healthy hair from one part of your scalp and move it to another part where you are losing your hair, typically because you have an autoimmune disease or because you’ve been undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
What does it mean to be a good candidate for hair transplant surgery?
It’s important to be confident about your hair loss and to have realistic expectations about the potential results of a hair transplant. At Alborj Hair Clinic, we’re committed to guiding you through the process so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not you are a good fit for this procedure. One of the best ways to find out if you are a good candidate is by scheduling a free consultation with one of our surgeons. During this consultation, he or she will discuss your options and answer any questions that you may have so that together, we can determine whether or not it’s worth pursuing treatment. We offer consultations at no cost because we want you to feel comfortable with the idea before making such a big commitment. We also encourage patients who do opt for surgery to contact us after their procedure so that they can share their experience in order to help others understand what they might expect during the recovery period.
Common questions from clients considering a new hairdo
Do you want to add volume, thickness or length to your hair? Do you want the freedom of being able to wash and style your hair any way you like it, without worrying about damage or thinning hair? Are you bothered by balding, receding hairlines, or thinning crowns that give people the impression that you’re older than you are? If so, then a hair transplant may be right for you.The Alborj Hair Clinic offers two different procedures: follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). FUT transplants individual follicles from the back of the scalp to areas with balding, receding hairlines, or thinning crowns. It is done using an incision made at the nape of the neck, where individual hairs are removed one-by-one. In contrast, FUE involves removing grafts from donor sites on the head and moving them individually to balding or thinning areas on top of the head. Each procedure has its own benefits and drawbacks, depending on what you hope to achieve during surgery. For instance, FUT will produce thicker hair in an area with thinning hair but won’t allow for changes in styling later on. On the other hand, if a person wants more freedom in how they can wear their new ‘do after surgery is complete, they’ll need an FUE procedure instead since it doesn’t remove any existing hairs in addition to adding new ones later on down the line.
